Storch # 2 - 1/6th scale Seveson kit
The following pictures are a good selection of building shots, supplied courtesy of Rob who has been steadily building this aircraft after buying it from EBay. He had been looking for this kit for some time, so was very pleased to manage to lay his hands on one. After many hours of building, Rob is at the covering stage and is pleased to announce that it is now nearing completion.
I understand from Rob that one of the trickiest bits has been the fitting of the motor. If you look at the nose construction shots, you will see that there is very little room for manoeuvre, so motor choice was crucial, with Rob finally deciding on a Thunder Tiger 91 four stroke.
Well, pictures speak louder then words, so let battle commence....

Take one empty building board, a quality kit and let the fun start !

Start by laying out some of the numerous parts

Check out the complex bits... and tackle those at a later stage maybe!

Make sure you have an awful lot of clamps, this wing really does involve a lot of work

Quite a bit of metalwork involved with the complex 'drooping' leading edge and the flap arrangement

Not for the fainthearted this type of wing, but very rewarding once finished and in operation.

The fuselage is taking shape quite nicely here, showing how much construction is involved with this aircraft. Makes for a very strong, but light airframe though.

Tail group added now, things are really taking shape.

Nose section starting to take shape here, ready for that all important engine choice

Motor fitted, trial fit of the front cowl and ready for the next stage of adding the metalwork around the motor itself.
It looks the business !

Some more metalwork is involved in the scale sprung undercarriage

This arrangement gave the full size aircraft the capability to take off from some very rough terrain, it should be ideal for Chouet then!
The end of 2007 sees the aircraft just about ready for covering, what a superb job Rob has done so far. I think it goes without saying that we eagerly look forward to some fine weather and the aircraft's maiden flight. I feel sure that Rob's hard work will be paid off in full when this beauty takes to the air.

And here's one that's been made earlier....
