Flying Site Locations
As you can see in this map, Guernsey is triangular in shape. The site for power flying, called Chouet, is situated at the most North-Westerly part of the island. The gliding site is situated at Pleinmont, the most South-Westerly point of the island on the cliffs approximately 300 feet above sea level, roughly 6.5 miles away from Chouet. As a result, Gliding can only take place in a South-South-Westerly to a Westerly Wind.

This map shows the power flying site on Guernsey used by the Guernsey Model Club. Chouet, shown in red is located at the most north-westerly point of the the island. The site is surrounded by 2 quarries, a couple of fields, and lots of sea and rocks everywhere else. This occasionally makes for some hazardous flying, but fortunately, not that often.

This map shows the location of Pleinmont, the site used by the GMC for slope soaring. The slopes are right on the edge of the island about 300 feet above sea level. The area used is shown in red.
