Fury Extreme
I have always like Fury helicopters. But it wasn't until we were on the boat to England for the Charmouth Heli fly-in in April 2004 that I decided to get the Extreme. After all, it was only one year since I had bought the 60 Expert version. But I bought one, and a YS 91 ST4, and a Muscle Pipe, and a painted Canopy. And I'm sure you'll agree it looks the business. There were no surprises during the build, as much of it is the same as the 60. The main differences are longer boom and blades, different gear ratio, metal cooling fan, metal tail gearbox, and of course the size of the motor. I have also used top-of-the-range digital servos, PCM Rx etc all of which adds up to one hell of a machine.
The extra power over the 60 is phenomenal, this thing just never loads up at all, and despite being only just run in up to now, it goes like a rocket ship. I've already done things with this that the 60 hasn't done! The main blades are MAH blades, which are very good, and the tails are SAB's, with a very thick section. These were designed by Jason Krause for the Extreme when he was still a pilot for Miniature Aircraft. The biggest advantage of the thicker section is that a higher Gyro gain be used. making the tail hold even better through demanding 3D manoeuvres.
The stripes on the Canopy stand out really well in the air, which is very important for orientation. And they look good on the ground too.
I have to say I'm very impressed with my Extreme. It is a different machine in its own right compared to the 60, and they sit well alongside each other. Now all I need to do is get lots more fuel through it and get more out of it, and myself.
