Aerovan
Guernsey Model Club Aeromodel of the Year 2004
Colin's latest aircraft is one of the most interesting I have seen for quite a while. It is a twin-electric airliner-style plane, and many wonder how it easy it would be to make one to resemble the typical airliner you would see at Guernsey Airport. Give it a T-tail, you have a Dash-8 or ATR. Make the fuselage deeper and you could have yourself a semi-scale Shorts 360. Lots of different possibilities.

Colin has provided some details of the plane as follows:
Aerovan was built from a free RCM&E plan, entirely built up balsa/ply
construction, covered in Solarfilm. Wingspan 55", total flying weight is 3 lbs
and it is powered by two standard Speed400's 7.2v driven by a single 7 cell
2000mah pack. Duration is 10 minutes on average, but can be stretched if I find
some thermal activity, as the wing is quite efficient. Very stable to fly, yet
can be looped, rolled and will even fly inverted, though not very 'scale' for an
airliner. For a first entry into multi-engined flight I can highly
recommend it.
