Discus CS

Dave has recently added this lovely aircraft to his fleet, and from what he says, it looks the part and really does perform very well. Over to Dave for the lowdown on this beautiful craft...

"This is my new glider, the Jamara Discus CS.  It's a scale ARTF, which only cost about £80, and that's a bargain, because what you get here is a 2.6 metre wingspan glider with built up wings and tailplane, and a moulded, already painted, glass fuselage, and it flies brilliantly!  It's so smooth in the air, it really does groove along, and actually has a fair turn of speed too.  Best flown in around a 20 knot wind, the wing provides ample lift for the airframe, which only weighs around 2kg.

Last time I flew it, I even managed to get a loop and a couple of rolls out of it (very barrely though).  The model has no glider-type airbrakes (the ones that come up out of the wing surface) so for landing I have set a switch that raises both ailerons slightly and this is very effective in helping to get it back on the ground.  I'm flying this one on my Futaba FF9, it has a standard Futaba servo on the rudder, running a closed loop system, but the ailerons and elevator have Hitec Mini metal geared servos on direct pushrods (the elevator servo is mounted inside the fin, just underneath the tailplane.  This only thing I can find fault with on this model is the Canopy.  The mouldings were not a great fit and needed some adjustment, and the canopy latch is also a bit finicky to install, with a bit of modification necessary on my model.  Nevertheless, a superb flyer for bargain money!"

These very striking pictures of the aircraft supplied by Dave, really do show it off very well indeed.
