3D Masters 2005

3D Masters 2005 was a brilliant weekend!  Not only was competition fiercer than ever meaning great flying, but we got up to a lot of other stuff too.  We went to about 7 different model shops, consumed endless amounts of food and beer, and had a bloody good time.  Here a few of the highlights:

The New Synergy N9 helicopter, designed from scratch by Jason Krause and Todd Bennett, had it's first ever public outing at the 3D Masters 2005.  It really is quite a radical machine, and the photos do not it justice at all.

Unfortunately most of Sunday was a washout, but it had been made up for on Saturday with the dodgy forecast for the next day.  The evening flying was also spectacular, with all sorts ranging from the Auto-school featuring the Bob'o'meter "interactive pitch gauge" to the night-flying duet by Chen Zafarti and Nir Meiri from Israel.  Also very interesting was a pair of sign-writing blades with 7 LED's on each blade, lighting up the words "3D Masters Spartan RC" underneath the rotor blades.  What made this even more interesting was the machine itself.  A Standard Raptor 50 converted to electric using no conversion kits, just a few bits of metal knocked together to form a mount for the brushless motor. Very clever stuff.

The JR Vibe Machines flown by Curtis Youngblood.  Obviously these two machines drew a lot of interest, as many parts are aftermarket parts which cannot normally be bought as they are specially made for Curtis.

On the whole a superb weekend.  To find out more, see the results, and more photos visit the 3D Masters website.
