24th January 2010 - Some more new items on the 'For Sale' page
Lastly, we have received some information from the Jersey club about their forthcoming 50th Anniversary celebrations. Details are as follows:-
"This year the Jersey Model Aero Club are celebrating their 50th anniversary. They are having a celebratory weekend on 10th and 11th July and although we haven't had confirmation, we imagine that the weekend will follow the usual format of general flying on Saturday, a party/meal on Saturday night with a public display on the Sunday. They have also sent out a few international invites too, so we would expect to see the likes of Christophe Paysant le Roux along with other "high-profile" flyers. If you think you might be interested in attending this, please let Dave Wilkinson know so he can gauge the amount of interest and send info over to Pete Rondel in Jersey. This event will be in addition to their usual Battle of Britain weekend in September"
Sounds really good, so start saving !

10th December -
Following the recent AGM, the club subscriptions for 2010 are detailed below and the new committee member list is on the 'Committee' page; many thanks to all those who attended the meeting and contributed to the discussion regarding the proposals.
Club Subscriptions for 2010 are due by the end of December 2009 and are as follows -
Senior members £45 (including BMFA membership)
Junior members £23 (including BMFA membership)
IMPORTANT... Following a recent committee meeting where members' concerns about the number of non club members attending these indoor nights, thus limiting the members' flying time were discussed, it was decided that Non Club members will only be allowed to spectate, they will not be allowed to fly.
The first Indoor Flying session was a great success with quite a few new models in evidence. The new ruling allowing only members to fly also contributed to a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. I hope to put some shots from that event up on the website soon.
30th September - Special DVD offer...
Having watched this incredible project, I can thoroughly recommend it... great story and well worth the money. If you would like more info about this offer, please contact me - colinrou@tinyworld.co.uk
Fantastic value DVD about the flight across the English Channel by an electric powered model aircraft. The company who made the video have given me some more background.....
"This DVD features Nigel Hawes, one of the best designers and builders of flying model aircraft. However, this is no ordinary modelling story, even after setting aside an incredible attempt at a world record - this is the tale of a highly unlikely friendship and how two friends pushed themselves - and their model aircraft - to the limit.
Two lives, poles apart. A freak accident brought them together. This is the story of two remarkable men - Nigel Hawes and Brian Collins - who made an audacious attempt at a world record and against all the odds made it happen.
Brian Collins is now a paraplegic after a motorbike accident. He's the MD of BRCHobbies, one of the largest suppliers of electric flight products in the country.
His friend is Nigel Hawes, world renowned model aircraft designer and maker. Together they set themselves the task of flying one across the English Channel.
"In the end it was more of a physical endurance battle than piloting skills.....most people told us we were crazy to attempt it and that we didn't stand a chance"
On a Wing and a Chair – a world record, an unlikely friendship and a struggle against all the odds
Originally sold at £13.95 this is now being offered – brand new and sealed – for just £5.99 including p&p.
28th September - Well done to Thomas David and Dave Wilkinson for their valiant efforts in the recent CI Aerobatic Competition. I understand that the weather was very unkind and strong winds made flying very difficult. Nonetheless, Thomas managed a Second place, whilst David gained a very creditable 5th....still there's always a chance next year to 'bring home the silver' !!
Check out the 'For Sale' page for some new items for sale.
23rd August - West Show update
Pictures on 'West Show' page
What a fantastic couple of days down at the West Show, the Club mounted a superb static display of models and managed to put on a very well received flying display on both days - despite the strong winds on the second day.
A huge thank you to the members who supported the event and gave up their own time to help with the static and flying displays.
My personal thanks go to -
Dave, Mick and Chris Wilkinson, Shane Browning, Andy Best, Ben & Les Le Prevost, Thomas David, Steve Glass & Jess who helped with the setting up and manning of the static display, and to Dave, Mick, Andy, Ben and Thomas who provided the airborne entertainment on both days.
'West is Best eh!'
29th July - New item on the 'For Sale' page - heli flyers check it out !
Latest pictures also of Rob Bougourd's Storch, now painted and awaiting test flight - check out Rob's page in 'Club Members Photos' - Storch #2
Some shots on the FLIGHTLINE page of the club's new Heli trainer. Huge thanks to all those involved with this project, it now adds a new dimension to our training facilities.
IMPORTANT !!!!
IMPORTANT notice to all flyers using the Chouet site - there is to be NO overflying of the Green Waste quarry during its opening hours until further notice.
Lastly... if you are test flying a new model, or one that has been repaired, it might be wise to ask fellow pilots not to fly whilst you are test flying as it will obviously reduce the stress factor in case you have a lot of 'in flight trimming' to do, and will allow you to concentrate on your model without having to worry if there is another model in your airspace.
*** A new page on the web site***,
for various shots of models, modellers etc etc ***
If you have any pictures of new models, or items for sale, just drop me an email - colinrou@tinyworld.co.uk or call me and I'll put them up on the site.
09/02/2006. An aircraft for Reflex XTR from John Ogier. He has modelled one of his Canard Designs for the simulator, and after having flown it himself, Dave W says that it is one of the most realistic simulator planes he's ever used. Download it here.
Chouet Scenery for Reflex XTR...Download the original file here. 28/09/2005. New version is ready. Looks just like flying down at the site! If you want a copy, let Dave W know, as it's quite a large folder. There is a night-flying heli download on another site, and he's also modified Chouet for night flying too!! Again, if you want a copy let Dave know.
